Abstract

Razprava in zaključek: Z zagotavljanjem celovite, sočutne in etične oskrbe lahko zdravstveni delavci pomagajo pacientom z rakom in njihovim družinam bolje obvladovati to težko bolezen in izboljšati kakovost njihovega življenja.

Secondary abstract: Introduction: Confronting a cancer diagnosis is an extremely stressful and challenging event for patients. At the moment, they face many challenges, such as fear of death, uncertainty about the future, pain, and the side effects of treatment. In this difficult situation, healthcare professionals have a crucial role to play in providing appropriate care and support. Purpose: The Purpose of the thesis is to define ethical aspects of healthcare professionals in patients facing a cancer diagnosis. Methods: A descriptive method of work was used with a systematic review of professional and scientific domestic and foreign literature. We focused on four ethical areas: autonomy, euthanasia, pain and communication. The time frame covered literature from 2012 to 2024 searched remotely from Medline, PubMed, Cobib and the Google Scholar web portal. Results: Facing patients with a diagnosis can be stressful and difficult for nurses, as they must provide quality care and support to the patient. In addition to physical and psychological stress, nurses face many ethical dilemmas in their work, such as problems in communication, autonomy, deciding on euthanasia and reducing the level of pain. Discussion and conclusion: By providing comprehensive, compassionate and ethical care, healthcare professionals can help cancer patients and their families better manage this difficult disease and improve their quality of life
