Abstract

Uporabili smo deskriptivno metodo dela. Literaturo smo pridobili iz tujih podatkovnih baz CINAHL, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Science Direct, Wiley Online Library in Web of Science. S pomočjo smernic PRISMA diagrama smo predstavili potek iskanja znanstvene literature. Izvedli smo vsebinsko analizo zbranih podatkov. Nekateri potrebujejo več časa, večkratno ponovitev intervencij in bolj individualiziran pristop poučevanja.

Secondary title: Teaching parents about the care of a child´s tracheostomy
Secondary abstract: Introduction: The tracheostomy is a vital artificial airway for children with complex chronic conditions, upper airway obstructions and those requiring long-term ventilation. Parents must acquire extensive knowledge and skills to care for it properly. Ensuring they feel prepared and confident is crucial. We aimed to determine how to achieve the highest level of parental preparedness for caring for a child with a tracheostomy at home. Methods: We reviewed the literature on teaching parents how to care for their child's tracheostomy using a descriptive approach. The literature was gathered from international databases: CINAHL, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Science Direct, Wiley Online Library and Web of Science. Following the PRISMA diagram we presented the process of searching the scientific literature. Then we performed a content analysis on the gathered data. Results: We included 10 studies in the final analysis. Our findings show that most parents feel prepared to take care of their child after training, but it takes time to adjust to their new lifestyle. Discussion and conclusion: The teaching method and intensity of practise significantly impact parents' readiness. Some parents require more time, repeated interventions and a more individualized teaching approach.
