Abstract

V magistrskem delu smo raziskovali, kako univerze po svetu uvajajo trajnostnostne ukrepe na različnih področjih svojega delovanja (trajnostnostno upravljanje, energetska učinkovitost stavb, odpadki, poraba vode, mobilnost, hrana, študenti in izobraževanje, administracija) in poseben poudarek namenili Univerzi v Mariboru (UM) in njenim dosedanjim aktivnostim na področju uvajanja trajnostnostnih pristopov.

Secondary title: Green University of Maribor
Secondary abstract: This master's thesis investigates the ways in which universities around the world are implementing sustainability measures in different areas of their operations. These include sustainable management, energy efficiency of buildings, waste, water consumption, mobility, food, students and education, and administration. The focus is on the University of Maribor (UM) and its activities in the field of sustainability implementation so far. The principal objective was to ascertain the status of sustainability processes and the extent of the green transition at the UM member institutions through the administration of a questionnaire adapted from the Copernicus Alliance questionnaire. The study employed a qualitative methodology comprising surveys (20) and interviews (9) to gain insight into the current state of sustainability at the member institutions (17 faculties, student halls of residence, the University Library of Maribor, and the Rector's Office). The findings indicate the necessity for further action, particularly with regard to the enhancement of sustainability management, the improvement of energy efficiency of buildings, and the pursuit of more sustainable water consumption. In the areas of administration, furniture waste management and IT equipment, the UM is approaching the greenest. Based on the analysis of the results of the online survey of UM members and the student interviews, a series of options for upgrading sustainability practices at UM have been presented. The conclusions indicate, in particular, the need for innovative approaches, the involvement of the whole community (students and staff) and the search for additional or optimisation of already existing financial resources for the realisation of sustainability measures that require a financial input.
