Abstract

            | Secondary abstract: | The aim of this contribution is a comparative analysis (1) of medieval short stories by Don Juan Manuel (1282-1348) from the collection El Conde Lukanor (1335), especially the story no. 7 The King and Three Fraudsters, (2) Hans Christian Andersen's (1805-1875) fairy tale The Emperor's New Clothes (1837) and (3) the children's play by Milan Jesih (1950) with the same title. The two-thousand year old theme of the emperor's new clothes, which is also common in literature for the young, can be found in numerous cultures, variants, forms and media - it is a universal theme, adapted by each culture in line with its specific context. |
