Abstract

V Sloveniji so posledice odpiranja proti Zahodu v splošnem sicer diametralno obratne, vendar imamo tukaj opravka z nasprotujočimi si procesi, ki so podrobneje opisani v pričujočem tekstu.

Secondary abstract: Max Weber defined the "spirit of capitalism" as a "temporal asceticism". The point of this asceticism is ability of individual to renounce current pleasures in expectation of the future profit. However, the individual's expectation of profit is reasonable only with the presumption that everybody else will behave in accordance with expectations, paying debts, keeping their promises and the similar. This social dimension is in the background of Weber's work, although it can be found already in Alberti's work, in the renaissance Florence, the whole century before the rise of Protestantism, which was according to Weber the source of the "spirit of capitalism". The meaning of social dimension is becoming obvious just today after the fall of communist systems. In Russia for example, the fall of communism and openness to theWest have not solved economic crisis, on the contrary, it became even worse. This paradox can be explained with the erosion of social capital caused by a century of communist totalitarianism. The consequences of opening to the West are in Slovenia diametrically reverse, however we deal here with the contradictory processes, which are described in greater detail in the present article. However, the erosion of social capital is going on also in the centre of the world capitalism - in the USA. This question is even more problematic taking into account the challenges of globalisation. Contemporary world thus needs new ethics, which continue and surmounts the ethics of the "spirit of capitalism".
