Secondary abstract:	The thesis studies the differences between Catholic and public schools residence halls for secondary school students regarding upbringing processes and its effects. Apart from boarding and care, residence halls for secondary school students also offer professional upbringing for students in teenage years, seen by many as “the tumultuous period of searching”. The quality of the upbringing processes gives meaning to these boarding facilities or to the work of the pedagogues working there.

Abstract (ePrints):	Diplomsko delo raziskuje razlike v vzgojnih procesih in učinkih med državnimi in cerkvenimi dijaškimi domovi. Dijaški domovi so poleg bivalnih pogojev in oskrbe tudi kraj strokovne vzgojne obravnave dijakov v njihovem mladostniškem obdobju, ki je po mnenju mnogih »viharno obdobje iskanja«. Kvaliteta vzgojnih procesov osmišlja delovanje domov oziroma delovanje vzgojiteljev v njih. Cerkveni dijaški domovi delujejo po vrednotah, institucionaliziranih znotraj katoliške cerkve, ki so utemeljeni v krščanski veri na podlagi evangelijev. Empirični del diplomskega dela na vzorcu 200 dijakov 2 državnih in 2 cerkvenih dijaških domov raziskuje razlike v različnih vzgojnih procesih in učinkih in se sprašuje, če vzgoja po krščanskih vrednotah kvalitativno vpliva na delo v cerkvenih dijaških domovih – ali so zaradi tega boljši in učinkovitejši kot državni dijaški domovi, ki so laični, ali ne. Rezultati raziskave kažejo, da so cerkveni dijaški domovi v mnogih primerih kvalitetnejši v prizadevanjih in učinkih vzgojnih procesov kot državni dijaški domovi.
