Diploma paper presents multimedia teaching aid for open learning on gastrointestinal topic, which is designed for students in the fourth grade, particularly for students with special needs. The theoretical part briefly presents the open learning, groups of children with special needs, and multimedia. The emphasis is on guidance how to design multimedia applications, which are the bases for developing criterias. They were needed for making application and later on in the verification of it. Before the construction of multimedia application could start, it was necessary to examine curriculum, select the appropriate computer program, prepare a detailed script and scheme which show the links between slides on an application. This study has examined the criteria which were included in the composite of application, the application's effective learning as well as the advances in knowledge. Furthermore, it was also examined how students handle multimedia application. The results showed that the multimedia teaching aid was designed by the set criteria and that its use results in pupils' perceived advances in knowledge. The advances in knowledge varies from student to student. The observation of the students' work with the application has showed that students know how to use the application but it has also showed their problems at the beginning (in section Instructions) with determining the order of opening buttons. Therefore, teacher's support is needed to direct students, which is contrary to the principles of independent learning. It is therefore necessary to improve and upgrade multimedia application. |
