Secondary title: Strength and balance exercises for 12-year-old children with autism
Secondary abstract: In the theoretical part of my work I have explained what autism is, what the main theories about possible causes for autism are and named a few approaches for treating children with autism. I have also described development of motorics in average child and the one with autism as well as pointed their main similarities as well as differences. Focus was put on gross motor skills difficulties and body image of people with autism as well as the importance of developing those motor skills, proprioception and body image. The practical part of my work is based on strength and balance and that is why they are described in more detail in the theoretical part. Next comes detailed description of floor exercises which are also strength exercises and polygon exercises i.e. balance exercises. With this research I wanted to determine the differences between exercises performances in two separate time periods and check the assumption that the chosen set of exercises will improve strength and balance of three twelve-year old students. During the data processing, using contingent table with frequencies and percents along with chi square test, I was able to prove that there is a significant statistical difference between first and second time period. Regular every day, well structured exercises lead to significant statistical difference between outcomes of majority of these exercises – these differences are represented in graphical form.
