Sekundarni naslov: Physical activity of preschool children and their parents in the Medvode municipality
Sekundarni povzetek: The purpose of our diploma thesis was to analyze the physical/sporting exercise in preschool children and their parents in the municipality of Medvode. We wanted to determine the intensity and variety of physical/sporting exercises in children and their parents as well as to determine whether children in urban areas receive a greater variety of physical/sporting exercises than children living in villages. We also wanted to know if parents and their children are sufficiently physically active for maintaining their health, what is their awareness on the importance of these exercises and what are their most frequent physical/sporting exercises. Exploring of parents' views on the number of physical/sporting exercises has also helped us to indirectly determine the environmental stimulation of the Municipality of Medvode for a healthy lifestyle of residents. The results we obtained on the basis of a questionnaire, which was composed of two parts. The first part was aimed at parents of 3 to 6 years old child and the other for children from the municipality of Medvode. The sample included 57 preschool children of age between 3 to 6 years, and their parents. The data were analyzed with SPSS – 16.0 Windows (Statistical Package for social Sciences inc.Chicago IL). We have calculated frequencies of individual responses in the survey questions using the subprogram FREQUENCIES. We applied DESCRIPTIVE (descriptive statistics) and CORRELATION (analysis of links between variables) on the numerical variables and also on other suitably transformed variables. Statistical significance was tested at the level of 5-percent risk (p≤0,05). Based on the data obtained from the questionnaire we found that parents of preschool children are insufficiently physically active for the maintenance of health, while their children receive sufficient amount of physical exercise. We found that there is a connection between the number of different physical/sporting exercises of children and parents. Children, together with their parents often deal with non-organized physical/sporting exercise such as cycling, walking and ball games. Parents are aware of the utmost importance of physical activities for the child's health and development, and are therefore probably the ones who in more than one half of cases the main initiators for including children in organized physical/sporting exercise.

Podatke smo obdelali s statističnim paketom SPSS – 16.0 Windows (Statistical Package for social Scienses inc. Chicago IL).
