Secondary abstract:	The main focus of my dissertation represents changes in parenthood, which are a consequence of a wider specter of social changes. Besides, I am interested in modern trends of educational strategies and how parents deal with the demands of society and those of professional public for nothing less than a perfect parenthood. Theoretical cognitions are divided into three parts: in the first one, new forms of family and social changes which affected the development of the modern family are described. Other important topics of this section are motherhood and fatherhood which are nowadays understood quite distinctly as in the past. The childhood period is the focus of the following parts: I compare modern childhood with the past one and explore educational concepts of the past. In the third, central part, the main topic is the research of modern educational methods. I find how parental authority is losing its meaning and how difficult it is to set boundaries. In the following chapters, I present the concept of protective childhood and relate to notions such as spoiled children or children overprotection and try to explain real-life examples of parents obsessed with perfection. The empiric part of my dissertation comprises the association of gained theoretical cognitions and practical experiences. The latter were gained by great help of parents who I had interviewed. My main interests were how parents understand parenthood and their children, how are they influenced by the society and how actively do they direct their children. I also attempt to find out, how difficult parenting is to them and how they experience establishing the authority and setting boundaries to their children.
