The frequency of flat foot in primary school pupils |
Secondary abstract: |
The present diploma thesis studies flat foot and the connection of the phenomenon with age and sex, as well as the differences between left and right foot.
The research examined 186 pupils from the first to the eighth class of the OŠ Pirniče primary school, whose parents consented to their cooperation. There were 81 boys and 105 girls among the examined pupils. The data were acquired in June 2010.
This research dealt with the following variables: class, triad, sex and Clark’s angle of left and right foot.
By means of Clark's method, we gathered and evaluated the level of flatness of both feet for each pupil separately. The acquired data were entered into the Excel worksheet and analysed with the SPSS for Windows statistical program. We calculated the basic statistics for numeric variables and frequencies, as well as relative frequencies for nominal variables. We also used the variance analysis and the chi-square test.
The research showed that a considerable share of pupils has trouble with flat foot. The number of children with the mentioned health problems is increasing with each new generation. The level of flatness is decreasing in higher classes. It was also established that girls have better feet than boys and that there are also differences between left and right foot. |
