Secondary title: Reading literacy work program for 4th grade students in elementary school
Secondary abstract: Reading is a complex activity that requiers contemporaneous coordination and simultaneous performance of several different skills. With the help of simultaneous coordinated performance of skills we achieve fluency which expresses itself in adequate reading speed that passes without an effort, excessive mind control and directing of attention. Reading understanding and learning from the text is the essence of reading in school. It is related with ones reading efficiency , his efficiency at language subjects and overall efficiency. Among the most important aspects of reading understanding rank metacognitive abilities of the reader and the use of reading strategies, knowledge, that the reader had before and his motivation. All of above mentioned factors influence the reading fluency. In my diploma work we wanted to improve the reading fluency at pupils of 4th grade with the help of a work programme. The emphasis was on the reading speed, because of activities based on the stimulation of visual function at reading. There were 15 pupils involved in our study. Each day for two months they performed activities for stimulating the ability to read-exercises for perception, exercises for eye movement at reading, exercises for developing visible and hearing distinctness, exercises for extension of visibility field, exercises for leap reading, exercises for improvement of reading comprehension and exercises for improvement of reading concentration. With the help of oneminute reading test we have discovered that reading fluency has improved at all pupils in our study group. Our conclusion is that gained results are the outcome of direct learning of reading skills.

Abstract (ePrints): Branje je kompleksna dejavnost, ki zahteva istočasno koordinacijo in simultano izvajanje več različnih spretnosti. Med najpomembnejše dejavnike bralnega razumevanja uvrščajo metakognitivne sposobnosti bralca in uporabo bralnih strategij, predznanje bralca, hitrost dekodiranja in njegovo motivacijo. Vsi našteti dejavniki vplivajo na fluentnost branja. Fluentnost je sposobnost brati besedilo hitro in natančno, z lahkoto in dobrim izražanjem.
