Secondary abstract: Pesticides are substances or mixture of substances intended for preventing, destroying, repelling or mitigating any pest. The environmental impact of pesticides is often greater than what is intended by those who use them. For example, some banned pesticides can still be found in high concentrations in the environment. Therefore the use of pesticides must be controlled. Atrazine is a widely used herbicide – a pesticide used to kill unwanted plants. It is banned in Slovenia since 2003 but the water and soil still contain a large amounts of it. Pentachlorophenol is an organochlorine compound used as a pesticide and a disinfectant. The aim of diploma thesis was to optimize the method for the detection of the atrazine andthe pentachlorophenol in water by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). I tried with the direct injection and with the preconcentration. The results showed that themethod is appropriate. I also found that the preconcentration is successful till the certainconcentration. The method can be used for testing the real samples.

Abstract (ePrints): Pesticid je vsaka snov ali mešanica snovi, namenjena za preprečevanje, uničevanje ali nadzorovanje kateregakoli škodljivca. Vendar pesticidi puščajo tudi posledice na okolju. Kljub temu, da so določeni pesticidi prepovedani že nekoliko časa, jih lahko še vedno najdemo v okolju. Zato je potrebno rabo pesticidov nadzorovati. Atrazin je pesticid, ki se pogosto uporablja kot herbicid. V Sloveniji je prepovedan od leta 2003, vendar je še močno prisoten v vodi in tleh. Pentaklorofenol je organoklorna spojina, ki se uporablja kot varovalno sredstvo za različne izdelke, ker preprečuje gnitje. Za izhodišče diplomskega dela sem si zastavila optimizirati metodo za dokaz atrazina in pentaklorofenola v vodi s tekočinsko kromatografijo visoke ločljivosti (HPLC). Dela sem se lotila z direktnim injiciranjem in s predkoncentracijo. Rezultati so pokazali, da je metoda primerna. Ugotovila sem tudi, da je predkoncentriranje uspešno do določene koncentracije. Metoda pa je ravno tako uporabna za realne vzorce.
