Secondary title: Deciduous trees on the kindergarten playground
Secondary abstract: Science is an interesting field for children, since by nature they are scientists always discovering new things, especially the ones surrounding them and with which they have a direct contact. Children find deciduous trees interesting because they change throughout the seasons. Thus, we can observe the changing treetops, branches, blossoms, fruit and with years becoming more thick and cracked trunks. In the first part of the thesis, that is in the theoretical part, I introduced the constructivist approach to teaching and some general characteristics of the deciduous trees: their habitat, structure and types. The second part of the thesis consists of empirical research. I was interested in how much city children know deciduous trees and what is their perception of them. I decided to do the research because this field is badly researched among children and there are not many existing sources on this topic. In the third part I introduced activities and analyses which I carried out with nursery school children and how much they contributed to their knowledge.

V teoretičnem delu diplomske naloge, sem predstavila konstruktivistični pristop k poučevanju in nekaj splošnih značilnosti listavcev, kot so življenjski prostor, zgradba in vrste listavcev. Drugi del diplomske naloge predstavlja empirična raziskava, in sicer koliko otroci v mestu poznajo listnata drevesa in kakšne predstave imajo o njih.
