Determination of some inorganic and organic pollutants in water |
Secondary abstract: |
The main topic of this diploma thesis is to determine the quality of the surface waters. Extensive use of the fertilisers (artificial and natural) and pesticides, all this in the main goal of higher yield, can pollute surface waters and environment in general and therefore affects the quality of life.
In this diploma thesis, I determined inorganic pollutants in selected samples of surface waters and compare them with the maximum values legally allowed. The presence of selected inorganic ions in water samples was determined by the reagent kits for rapid field analyses of water. The complexometric titration was used to determine carbonate, total and calcium hardness of tap water.
Beside the inorganic pollutants, the extensive use of pesticides leaves also traces of organic ones. The High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) was used in the second part of this diploma thesis in order to follow the decomposition of triazine pesticide atrazine in UV light.
For the methodological part of the Thesis, I prepared an experimental exercise in which pupils learn about three different procedures for the determination of water hardness. The exercise is carried out in the 7th grade of the Primary school at the subject of Natural Science. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
V diplomskem delu sem določala nekatera anorganska onesnaževala v izbranih vzorcih vod in jih primerjala z dovoljenimi mejnimi vrednostmi.
