Secondary abstract: A seismic performance assessment of the three-storey masonry building from Ljubljana, is presented. It was assessed by using computer software 3Muri. Firstly, different failure mechanisms of masonry walls, i.e. flexural mechanism, the sliding shear mechanism and shear mechanism due to formation of diagonal cracks, are presented and discussed. Described is a simplified non-linear method for seismic performance assessment - N2 method. It can be used in order to predict damage in the structural elements and consequently locate parts of the structure which have to be strengthened. Some strengthening techniques used for reducing the seismic risk due to weak masonry buildings are described. In practical part of the Thesis the three-storey building is described and its earthquake- resistance is assessed by using 3Muri, which enables elastic static analysis of vertical load, modal analysis and use of the N2 method. Nine structural models have been prepared in order to study the impact of different material characteristics, flexible floors, and the strengthening techniques on the earthquake resistance of the building. Material strength significantly affects the earthquake-resistance and even the collapse mechanism of the masonry wall and the entire structure. It is therefore recommended to perform sensitivity analysis for different material strengths on the earthquake- resistance of the structure. The use of the non-linear static analysis on structures with flexible floors is limited and it would be reasonable to develop new methods for assessment of such structures or to employ non-linear dynamic analysis. Examined building is not able to withstand the design seismic loads, but results show, that strengthening of the floors significantly improves seismic performance of the entire structure.

Abstract (ePrints): V nalogi smo izdelali oceno potresne odpornosti stare tri-etažne zidane stavbe, ki se nahaja v centru Ljubljane. Uporabili smo program 3Muri, ki je namenjen elastični in nelinearni analizi zidanih stavb. V prvem delu naloge obravnavamo tri možne porušne mehanizme, ki določajo odpornost nearmiranega zidu: upogibni mehanizem, strižni mehanizem z zdrsom ter strižni mehanizem z nastankom diagonalnih razpok. Opisana je poenostavljena nelinearna metoda za določanje potresne odpornosti - N2 metoda, ki temelji na nelinearni statični analizi in neelastičnih spektrih odziva. Z njo je mogoče oceniti poškodovanost elementov konstrukcije ter tako določiti mesta, ki jih je v primeru neustreznega odziva potrebno izboljšati. Obstaja veliko ukrepov za utrditev konstrukcije proti potresu, nekateri so tudi podrobno opisani v nalogi. V praktičnem delu na kratko opišemo obravnavano stavbo in ocenimo njeno potresno odpornost na različnih predpostavljenih modelih s programom 3Muri. Program izvede elastično statično kontrolo vertikalne nosilnosti, modalno analizo in določi poškodovanost konstrukcije pri potresni obtežbi v skladu z N2 metodo. V devetih primerih smo raziskali vpliv materialnih lastnosti, podajnosti stropov in protipotresnih utrditev na potresno odpornost stavbe. Materialne karakteristike, ki jih težko natančno določimo, precej vplivajo na potresno odpornost ter celo na porušni mehanizem elementa in celotne konstrukcije, zato je priporočljivo pri vsaki stavbi narediti analizo občutljivosti potresnega odziva stavbe glede na materialne parametre zidu. Pokazale so se omejitve nelinearne statične analize pri konstrukcijah s podajnimi stropovi, zato je smiselno razvijati nove metode za oceno potresne odpornosti konstrukcij s podajnimi stropovi ali uporabiti nelinearno dinamično analizo. Rezultati kažejo, da stavba ni sposobna prevzeti projektne potresne obtežbe, vendar uporaba ukrepov, ki povežejo stropove, njeno obnašanje močno izboljša.
