Sekundarni naslov: Seismic performance assessment of masonry building in Posočje
Sekundarni povzetek: The thesis addresses seismic performance assessment of a masonry building. Firstly, seismic behaviour of masonry buildings is briefly introduced. Described are typical failure mechanisms followed by a chapter presenting the design seismic load according to Eurocode 8 (EC8) and the determination of the resistance of the unreinforced masonry walls based on different failure mechanisms. An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 struck the Upper Soča Valley in 2004. During the earthquake, masonry building under investigation was also damaged. Data for seismic performance assessment of the masonry building (Chapter 5) were obtained based on the technical documentation provided by National Technical Office (DTP). The resistance of the walls was based on the theoretical background presented in Chapter 3 and Chapter 4. The calculations were made on the basis of horizontal force method using Microsoft Excel and SAP2000. The seismic performance assessment analysis was performed for the ground floor only. The results of the first verification of the resistance showed that the building is not capable to meet the requirements of the EC8 since the shear slip mechanism controlled the resistance of the ground floor. Based on the empirical evidence such failure mechanism is not likely to occur at the ground floor. Therefore it was not considered in the second iteration of the verification of resistance, which showed the increased resistance of the investigated masonry building for 88% and 103%, respectively, in X and Y direction. Still, such increased resistance, which was estimated in the second iteration, not fulfil requirement of EC 8.

Opisani so značilni porušni mehanizmi zidov.
