Secondary title: Dance as a media when working with adolescents with behavioural and emotional problems
Secondary abstract: In my diploma thesis I researched in what way and to what extent dance can help adolescents with behavioural and emotional problems with getting to know themselves and improving the quality of their life. The core aim of the thesis was to explore the needs and gaps that dance as a medium can possibly fill. I was interested in connection between dance and strengthening of self-image and self-evaluation in physical, emotional and especially social area and in the potential influence of dance on improvement of social skills, communication and resolution of conflict situations. My goal was to expose aspects and findings about dance that can contribute to better quality of additional professional help for the youth with behavioural and emotional problems. For the research method I chose case study on the basis of which I got to results that confirm my assumption − that dance is useful in social pedagogics as a profession since it creates many opportunities and conditions for successful collaboration with adolescents who need additional guidance and help.
