Secondary title: Mapping between architectural and structural aspects in the building information models
Secondary abstract: Presented thesis is focused on the building information modelling in the AEC-FM (Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Facility Management) sector. The complexity of discussed brunch reflects in number of domain specific models and in not clearly defined terminology. Therefore the first part of presented thesis deals with modelling terminology and with chronological modelling development description. Further work is focused on the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC), the most popular AEC-FM specification. Presented research is limited on the domain specific architectural and structural submodels and on corresponding relations between them. This thesis defends the hypothesis that presented problem can be simplified and partly automated if IFC model and appropriate computer encoded heuristic rules are used. IFC based information server for collaborative building design between architects and structural engineers with semi – automatic geometry mapping between sub models and with imposed load assignments is proposed. A demonstration prototype partly proves the regularity of proposed hypothesis. However, the prototype also points out inability of its implementation in practice, mainly due to immaturity of IFC specification and its implementations.

Abstract (ePrints): Doktorska disertacija obravnava področje modeliranja produktov industrije ki oblikuje grajeno okolje.
