Secondary title: Regulation of flood-control reservoir on Savina river near Male Braslovče
Secondary abstract: In this diploma work, we studied the usage possibilities of the area at the river Savinja above the Male Braslovče for a flood control reservoir. Because of the urbanisation of the flooding areas, Savinja river caused in the past many catastropfic floods. Two of the most devastating were in 1990 and 1998. Chances of the flooding of the natural flooding areas are poor, that is why the building of flood control reservoir must be studied. Savinja river basin with its characteristics is described in the first part. Detailed description of the river branch between Letuš and Male Braslovče follows. In calculating part, three variants of the levees considering their height and length are presented. The hydraulic model was made using Mike Flood computer software, developed by Danish Hydraulic Institute. The river model is one dimensional and the flood control reservoir model is two dimensional. The input data refers to 100-years flood waters under the confluence with the Paka river. The results of the modeling are water surface elevations in the reservoir, volume of the retained water and the reduction of downstream discharge. We established, that the flood control reservoir has positive influence on the flood waters of Savinja, that means Lower Savinja Valley in less endangered by floods.
