Secondary title: Rockery in kindergarten
Secondary abstract: Preschool children learn about nature especially with daily contact with it. A rockery is a way that these contact is enabled. It doesn’t require much space and care, but offers a child many opportunities to learn about rocks, plants and animals, plant needs, the changing of nature over the course of time, and represents a wealth of colors, scents, shapes and structures as encourage for human senses and progress in all areas of development. In my thesis I planned and carried out the activities in which children are actively involved in planning and setting up a rock garden, and growing plants in it. With the help of an oral questionnaire before and after the activities, I identified how much knowledge the children gained after the activities. Creating a rockery and actively involving children in the activities, showed that learning new concepts is much faster. It turned out well in the end, when the oral questionnaire revealed knowledge, which the children did not have before actively attending work. I should mention that prior to the making rockery did not recognize a single plant. Children often stop at the rock garden, care for it, and these shows appreciate for the effort that they put into it.

Abstract (ePrints): Predšolski otrok spoznava naravo predvsem v vsakodnevnem stiku z njo.
