Parents views on child's transition to nursery school |
Secondary abstract: |
This diploma paper examines how parents deal with their child's transition to nursery school. This is one of the most difficult periods for children as well as their parents. The level of distress they are likely to undergo mostly depends on emotional attachment to their children and their trust towards nursery school staff. The paper is divided into two parts: Theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part defines the concept of family and everything that surrounds it – socialization, emotional attachment and education. It also describes the concept of nursery school, its mission and objectives, parent-staff communication and the process of transition. The empirical part contains a research on parents' views on the process of transition. Presented are the results of a questionnaire with 21 questions. It was given to all parents who introduced their children to Zarja Nursery School in the school year 2010-2011. The results were then quantitatively analyzed and presented in tables. What is interesting is that many parents did not prepare their children for nursery school and that most parents did not notice any changes in their child's behaviour during the transition period. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
