Secondary title: The attitude of teachers towards singing in kindergarten
Secondary abstract: This undergraduate thesis addresses the attitude of teachers towards singing in the kindergarten. As this attitude is an important factor of the quality within the educational process, the study outlines the kindergarten teachers' viewpoints and values in relation to singing. The objective of this BA thesis was to ascertain what the attitude of teachers towards singing in kindergartens is like. The descriptive research method was applied in the study. The data were gained from a questionnaire survey involving 37 kindergarten teachers. The results of the research have shown that the most teachers would take an active role and assure rhythmic-melodic reliability in preschoolers' singing, and also for its appropriateness i.e. the suitable level of difficulty of children songs. In addition, the research showed an inappropriate attitude of a considerable number (more than a third) of teachers towards a child's developing singing skills. Nevertheless, it has been positively ascertained that almost all teachers showed an interest for further trainings where they could refresh, upgrade or gain the knowledge needed for carrying out singing and other music-related activities in the kindergarten. It has become apparent that the teachers' viewpoints differ to a considerable degree from their behaviour in practice in kindergartens. Therefore, trainings should also be provided in this area for kindergarten teachers and assistants. If teachers want to ensure the successful musical development and singing skills of preschoolers; if they want to make them enjoy singing, both the teachers and assistants need to be aware of the responsibility which they bear for the singing development of children. In addition, teachers and assistants need to have a wide knowledge, well developed singing and musical skills, proper qualifications, they should love their job, and be committed to their work; in brief, the teachers should have positive attitude towards singing in the kindergarten.

Abstract (ePrints): Diplomska naloga obravnava odnos vzgojiteljic do petja v vrtcu – njihova stališča in vrednote v zvezi s petjem, saj je odnos vzgojiteljev/-ic pomemben dejavnik kakovosti vzgojno-izobraževalnega procesa.
