Secondary abstract: The Kindergarten Mavrica in Trebnje has a class of Roma preschool children, who start attending the class at the age of three. The professionals working at the kindergarten strive to acquaint the children systematically with Slovene through various activities in order to ease their entry into primary school. The theoretical part of the thesis presents Roma, their history, life and culture. It also touches on their education and the issues they experience in the process, particularly in relation to understanding and speaking Slovene. The thesis discusses the importance of including Roma children in preschool education and describes Roma kindergartens and their organisation. The empirical part of the thesis describes and illustrates how the children learn Slovene words and enrich their vocabulary in a language that is not their mother tongue through technical activities, learning about different materials and tools, and creating team games.

Abstract (ePrints): V Vrtcu Mavrica Trebnje imamo oddelek romskih predšolskih otrok, ki obiskujejo vrtec od tretjega leta dalje. V teoretičnem delu diplomske naloge so predstavljeni Romi, njihova zgodovina, življenje in njihova kultura.
