Secondary title: Wooden figures of various shapes
Secondary abstract: Nursery schools in Slovenia practise programmes according to Preschool curriculum, focusing on movement, language, society, nature and mathematics. As a professional preschool teacher I strive for the field of technology, which does not exactly belong to the curricular field, to be integrated into activities. It currently represents an important sphere and we come across it every day. Children would meet the basics of technology and creative work via practical activities and so develop their technical skills. General developmental characteristics of children aged 3 to 5 - cognitive, speech, emotional, movement, social and moral development - are introduced in the theoretical part. Wood, its characteristics and structure are presented as well but I also wrote about tools and techniques of gluing and nail driving, which were introduced to children in the empirical part. Some basics of mathematics, in particular of geometrical shapes, the basis of my thesis, are described in the final part. Creativity, authenticity, precision of children and accomplishment according to gender are presented through technical activities in the empirical part. Besides, my thesis includes technical activities which help children to learn about wood characteristics and connection between technology and mathematics as well.

Abstract (ePrints): V vrtcih po Sloveniji izvajajo programe po Kurikulumu za vrtce, kjer so področja dejavnosti gibanje, jezik, umetnost, družba, narava in matematika. V teoretičnem delu sem predstavila splošne razvojne značilnosti otrok od tretjega do petega leta; kognitivni, govorni, čustveni, gibalni, socialni in moralni razvoj. Poleg tega sem v diplomsko delo vključila tudi tehnične dejavnosti, preko katerih otroci spoznavajo lastnosti lesa in povezavo tehnike z matematiko.
