Secondary abstract: The graduation thesis describes, on the basis of vectorised geological maps, creation of Geographic Information System for Geology. Geological maps are made on the basis of remote sensing, descriptive information of the situation in the field and laboratory studies of the ground obtained rock samples. They are thematic maps and are most burdened maps with the cartographic symbols. This is why the process of preparation and production of geological maps is time-consuming and complicated. As a practical part of the graduation thesis the production of cartographic symbols for point and line symbols is presented. In the geographic information system is also added textual information of stratigraphic units and faults.

Abstract (ePrints): Diplomska naloga prikazuje, na podlagi vektorsko zajetih geoloških kart, izgradnjo geografskega informacijskega sistema za geologijo. Geološke karte so narejene na osnovi daljinskega zaznavanja, opisnih informacij terenskega stanja ter laboratorijskih proučevanj na terenu pridobljenih opazovanj in analiz vzorcev kamnin. Sodijo med tematske karte in nosijo izjemno veliko informacij, kar je poseben izziv za njihovo ustrezno grafično predstavitev. Postopek priprave in izdelave geološke karte je dolgotrajen in zapleten, saj je izdelava zelo zahtevna z vsebinskega, oblikovnega in tehnološkega vidika. Poleg predstavitve geoloških kart in izgradnje geografskega informacijskega sistema smo kot praktični del naloge izdelali standardne kartografske znake in linijske simbole za njihovo uporabo v digitalni obliki. Zajeti in v geografskem informacijskem sistemu so prikazani tudi tekstualni podatki stratigrafskih enot in prelomov.
