Secondary title: Analysis in construction projects delays in Republic of Slovenia by using empirical methods
Secondary abstract: During the execution of a construction project, temporal deviations from the original plan are often encountered. These delays frequently result in additional costs and business losses for all parties involved. Further, the delays appearing during the execution phase are often the underlying cause of the dispute among the project participants that could be, by using appropriate techniques and tools, successfully avoided. The onset and development of delays are systematically studied in the presented research, along with the reasons for their appearance, causes and responsibilities. Strengths and weaknesses of individual methods are presented and assessed, and recommendations for the selection of the most appropriate method with respect to the project under consideration are compiled. The thesis presents in its core part the empirical study that was carried out in order to determine the perceived causes of delays and their triggers in 2010. A web-based survey was selected as the research tool. The obtained results show that the most commonly encountered causes of delays stem from the legal issues, the behavior of the client and project management style. Further, it can be concluded that project success is significantly dependent upon the implementation of project management knowledge into the daily practice, which can be achieved by engaging competent project managers. The results of the presented research can serve as a basis for the preparation of construction project management recommendations that are to serve all participants of the project.

Abstract (ePrints): Pri realizaciji gradbenega projekta se pogosto srečujemo s časovnimi odstopanji od prvotnega terminskega plana oz. zamudami, katere najpogosteje pomenijo dodatne stroške in poslovno škodo za vse udeležence procesa graditve. V magistrskem delu sistematično raziskujemo pojav zamud, njihove vzroke nastanka, odgovornosti oz. opravičljivosti zanje.
