Diploma paper on a theoretical and empirical level presents the preschool teachers' problems when working with Albanian speaking children in kindergarten. In theoretical part it touches Albanian speaking migrants, where they come from, their culture and language. Then it focuses on the situation of immigrant children in kindergarten, mainly based on the Strategy of integration of migrants. The paper continues with description of the role of teachers in working with Albanian speaking immigrant, where their base is the Guidelines for the integration of immigrant children in kindergarten and schools. The last chapter is devoted to the work of preschool teachers with parents.
Empirical part, with qualitative analysis of interviews with three preschool teachers, presents their view on work with Albanian-speaking children, their parents, the challenges faced when working with immigrants, teaching children slovene language and suggestions, accruing from experiences, on how to make their work easier.
Findings of this diploma are mostly problems as the result of the lack of systematically organized support for immigrant children in learning Slovene and their mother tongue. Albanian-speaking children are ignored at both, nurturing their mother tongue and at being assisted with the language of the host country. The whole integration of immigrant children is performed by prescool teachers, who must also overcome the difficult communication with immigrant parents. |
