Abstract

Secondary title: Comparison between static and dynamic pile load test in marsh soil
Secondary abstract: Construction of buildings has increased markedly over the past decades in areas of poor foundation soil, which led to increased need for construction of piles. In accordance with European standards, quality control of installed piles has to be done. Quickest and simplest test is low strain intergity test, but in cases of complex structures a static or dynamic pile load test must be made. Execution of tests and analysis of the results are very different, but the final results are the same. In general it is known that the static load test is more reliable, but the dynamic load test is more cost efficient and quicker. In the thesis we present the differences between these tests, and the results of both tests on a test pile built in marsh ground. Due to the fact, that the soil has a significant impact on ultimate pile bearing capacity, we properly invastigated the soil, and from the results calculated the pile ultimate bearing capacity. In the following chapters we present in detail both tests. Measurement results are analyzed and shown by a load - settlement curve. From the results we present findings and conclusions about the difference found during the experiment.
