Abstract

Secondary title: VACCINATION OF PRESCHOOL CHILDREN
Secondary abstract: Through vaccination we can protect the child against various contagious diseases. In the theoretical part of the thesis we have based on theoretical origins and expert's literature presented key-concepts of vaccination. We have described the purpose and history of vaccination and the programme of mandatory and voluntary vaccination of preschool children. In the empirical part we have presented the results of the research, conducted with the help of a questionnaire, filled out by parents of preschool children of the Kindergarten Murska Sobota out of three units Krtek Bakovci, Romano Pušča, Miške Murska Sobota (from the city, village and Roma settlement). We were interested, whether parents support mandatory vaccination according to the program, if they were informed about the purpose of vaccination and if their children were vaccinated according to the vaccination program. We choose the kindergarten in order to find out the opinion of preschool children parents, who live in a village, Roma settlement and city. We have found that parents from the village and city do not agree that vaccination of children is mandatory. A larger percent of parents agrees, but some parents do not. Parents of preschool children from the Roma settlement agree completely and think that vaccination of children is mandatory and essential. The opinion of parents on mandatory vaccination of children from the village and city is not that good as that from the Roma settlement. While parents of children, who live in the village or city, do not entirely think that vaccination of children is mandatory and essential. The majority of parents were informed about the purpose of vaccination of their children, just a small percentage of the questioned answered that they have not been informed about it. All the questioned parents have however decided to vaccinate their children according to the program of mandatory vaccination.
