Abstract
Uporabili smo teoretični model Virginie Henderson in izpostavili nekatere od 14 osnovnih življenjskih aktivnosti. Podatke smo zbrali z metodo intervjuja s starostnikom. Medicinska sestra mora obvladati veščine s katerimi starostnike motivira za spremembe življenjskega sloga in jim nudi pomoč in podporo. Zdrava varovalna prehrana, redukcija soli in maščob v prehrani, opustitev alkohola in redna telesna dejavnost so temeljna dejstva za ohranjanje zdravja in imajo ugoden vpliv na psihofizično počutje posameznika v starosti.

The Influence of Poor Lifestyle Habits on Health Problems in Old Age |
Secondary abstract: |
In the last decade a healthy way of living is increasingly being promoted since it is a precondition for a longer and quality life. In numerous researches it has been proven that unhealthy way of living leads to numerous chronic illnesses. Heart and vascular diseases present a serious problem to the humans living in the modern times. Health problems, which occur as a consequence of bad living habits and start occurring and increasing with old age, are closely linked to a healthy way of living, good relations with people, support of the closest relatives and friends and the ability to lead independent life. Many illnesses develop already when people are middle aged and deteriorate as they grow older and these illnesses deteriorate the quality of a person’s life. In order to improve their health in old age, people need to abandon bad habits as the objective of healthy ageing is maintaining one’s physical and social activities, independence, and also the quality of life at the highest possible level according to simultaneous illnesses and conditions. In the empirical part of the thesis we have executed a qualitative research on the basis of a case study of an elderly person with chronic illnesses, and studied how his life habits influenced his health problems in old age. We have used the theoretical model of Virginia Henderson and concentrated on some of the 14 basic life activities. The data have been acquired with the method of interviewing the study case. We have stressed the role of a nurse in the life of an elderly person with chronic illnesses, since this enables individual approach in striving towards improving a person's health and ensuring the quality of their life at the highest possible level, according to the limitations. A nurse needs to be well familiar with the skills, namely how to motivate the elderly people for changing their lifestyle, and offer them support and help. Healthy protective diet, salt and fats reduction in the diet, giving up alcohol and regular exercise are the basic facts one needs to obey in order to preserve their health. These factors also have a favourable influence to an individual’s psychophysical state of health in old age. |
