Abstract

Secondary title: PROBLEMS OF OLDER WORKERS IN GORENJSKA BANKA D.D., KRANJ
Secondary abstract: Master's thesis entitled The problems of older workers in Gorenjska Banka d.d., Kranj is composed of two parts-the theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part of the thesis describes the facts, and draw attention to the problem of an aging population, especially in terms of work load and in the workplace. We first present the implications of population aging, pointed out to discrimination against older workers and on intergenerational solidarity, introduced measures to promote employment of older workers and pointed out the problem of education and health of older workers. In the empirical part, we conducted a study in Gorenjska Banka d.d., Kranj. With the survey we collected opinions of older workers according to the satisfaction with working conditions, and what are the adaptations of jobs, if older workers still feel useful in their work and, if they feel the possibility of career advancement, if older workers from other colleagues feel the support and help at work place, and whether older workers have the opportunity to attend various trainings. We found that the respondents in Gorenjski banka d.d., Kranj are most satisfied with the working equipment at the workplace and that the workplace is most adapted with the appropriate computer screen, and with a more suitable chair, which are two essential steps to facilitate the employment of older workers. Based on the results, we found that less than 50% of older workers are enable to work in quantitative lesser extent, and that in the majority of older workers still feel useful in their work, but most older workers do not feel several possible career progression. We have also found that, on average, older workers occasionally receive assistance and support from younger co-workers and managers, and that the majority of older workers have the opportunity to attend training and they have a greater extent also participate.
