Abstract

Secondary title: Nursing the patient after total hip endoprothesis
Secondary abstract: The diploma thesis discusses a medical treatment of a patient after total hip endoprosthesis. Total hip endoprosthesis, as well as nurse's activities and training, including educational work after the procedure, are presented. Based on Virginia Henderson's theoretical model, we emphasized actual and potential nursing diagnoses, and prepared a health care plan. The diploma thesis is based on a quantitative work method. The research included a patient after total hip endoprosthesis. After we conducted the interview, we systematically interpreted and analysed the data collected. The research showed that the activities of daily living, such as movement and good posture, of patients after total endoprosthesis are limited. Moreover, medical treatment can only be complete and of the best quality in the case when all 14 activities of daily living are taken into consideration. It is important to realise that nurses with their approach and professional competence significantly contribute to the enhancement of the patients' recovery. Carefully planned and continual health care of the patients can prevent potential postoperative complications and, at the same time, improve their quality of life.
