diplomsko delo
Abstract

TALENTED LEARNERS IN TEACHING LANGUAGES TO CHILDREN |
Secondary abstract: |
In the diploma thesis, we have focused on finding young talents in learning a foreign language, in the 1st and 2nd cycle of the primary school. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis presents the theoretical bases and questions about giftedness and talent of children in general, and in foreign language lessons at primary level. Furthermore, we also introduce up-to-date didactic approaches to work with talented children and findings on how teachers who teach a foreign language at the primary level face with the identification and development of talented children. We have conducted a survey, which has been based on a sample of 70 teachers who teach foreign languages in the 1st and 2nd cycle of the primary school. The data obtained were analyzed according to gender, years of teaching, education, and educational period. The survey shows that teachers, regardless of years of teaching, and education, have agreed with the features of talented children. Teachers perceive their ability to identify and work with them as well; most of them are willing to additionally qualify themselves. Furthermore, the survey has also shown that most teachers use additional tasks as a form of work which develops students' talents in teaching a foreign language at primary level. |
