Abstract

Secondary title: HOMEWORK IN GEOGRAPHY LESSONS AT PRIMARY SCHOOL PETROVČE
Secondary abstract: Homework represents a part of teaching and learning process by which learners complement the knowledge they have gained and develop their skills in the subject. Homework also helps to develop self-directed learning and has therefore multiple roles and meanings, one of them being the contribution to effective learning. Geography homework is no exception. In the empirical part we present a research in the case of Primary School Petrovče about the frequency, purpose and content of homework in Geography lessons and motivation of learners and teachers for them. The results show that learners, teachers and parents are aware of the positive impact of homework on students' learning and the development of their autonomy. Nevertheless, learners do not do homework regularly, the variety of homework set by the teachers is poor and the parents often do not participate in the process of monitoring and the creation of homework in Geography lessons. We present three examples of Geography homework, by which we want to increase students' interest in the subject, check and consolidate their knowledge, stimulate their working habits and develop their lifelong skills with the help of research activities.
