Secondary abstract: | The aim of the thesis is to determine what is the actual role and mission of the police at the onset of the protests and violent public demonstrations, as well as what role the police have prior to the announcement of the protests and the widespread media calling to the 'popular uprising'. We will also find out what led to the protests and whether peaceful and lawful protest make an impact or if they as such achieve a result. The aim of the thesis will be, inter alia, to identify legislation regulating the gathering of people in public areas and to determine the legal powers of the police and their duties at the onset of mass demonstrations and breach of public order. |
