Abstract

Secondary title: The use of e-learning materials for teaching computer science in primary schools
Secondary abstract: In the last few years the teaching in primary and secondary schools all around the world changed severely. One of the reasons for the change was the development of the information and communications technology (ICT). Nowadays we can hardly imagine teaching without the use of the ICT. Schools are equipped with electronic boards, interactive boards, tablets, voting systems and other electronic devices. The right use of these devices and electronic materials (e-materials) developed for them can significantly improve the quality of the teaching and contribute to higher activity of pupils during classes, making teaching more dynamic also with using the different e-learning materials in class. In Slovenia both the Ministry of education, science and sport and the Institute of education of the Republic of Slovenia play a very important role as they mutually cooperate and co-finance different projects, which also enable the development of appropriate e-materials. For the purposes of my thesis I conducted an empirical survey in which it was determined that the participating teachers know numerous criteria for quality of e-materials, which the evaluators take into consideration. Teachers are aware of different publicly available e-materials (examples: vidra.si, bober1.acm.si, nauk.si, safe.si, materials COLOS FRI), which they use for teaching computer science. These materials serve them as an additional resource while examining student's knowledge, as a tool to demonstrate the functioning of a certain program, and as a tool to teach a programming language.
