Abstract

Ekipa formule študent Grand Prix Engineering, v kateri sem bil v študijskem letu 2013/2014 odgovoren za nastavitve motorja, tekom leta načrtuje in izdela dirkalnik, s katerim tekmuje. Diplomsko delo obravnava razvoj motorne enote dirkalnika.

Secondary title: Engine development for Formula Student racecar
Secondary abstract: Grand Prix Engineering formula student team, at which I was responsible for engine development in study year 2013/2014, throughout the year develops, manufactures and races a formula student racecar. Diploma thesis deals with a powertrain development. Thesis contains basic information about ethanol, simulation processes settings and mapping settings of the engine. Development goes through multiple stages: engine concept, simulation, optimization, mechanical tuning, ECU tuning and maintenance. Engine configuration and fuel were selected on the basis of one-dimensional simulations. Simulations were carried out in AVL BOOST software. Engine tuning and mapping was carried out on the engine dynamometer at Faculty of mechanical engineering at University of Maribor. End of the thesis contains newly developed engine specifications with power and torque curves and a short overview of the engine at the first formula student competition in 2014.
