Abstract

Glavni namen diplomskega dela je predstaviti informacijsko podporo v zdravstvu, ugotoviti, kolikšno podporo danes nudijo zdravstveno-informacijski sistemi, in pokazati, v kolikšni meri so zdravstveni delavci poučeni o oz. vešči dela z računalnikom. Metodologija raziskovanja.

Secondary title: INFORMATION SUPPORT IN HEALTH CARE
Secondary abstract: Theoretical background. The development of informatics in health care has made an enormous leap. The amount of data is increasing on daily basis, and administration has taken on a significant role in nursing care. Computerizing in health care resulted in health information being maintained in one place and available to all institutions that have previously treated a certain patient. The goal of the survey was to determine the current status of IT support in health care, compared to the findings from a 2012 survey. The main purpose of the graduate thesis is to present the IT support in health care system, determine the amount of support provided by the health information systems today, and determine to what extent the medical staff is familiar with and skilled for work with computers. Methodology. The survey was carried out in five chosen departments at University Medical Centre Maribor. The sample included 42 interviewees. The survey was carried out through questionnaires, the data gathered was processed statistically. In the theoretical part, Slovenian as well as foreign literature was used. Results. The results of the survey showed that the interviewees aged between 30 and 40 are very familiar with and skilled for work with computers. As many as 14 (33%) believe that the health care system lacks IT support and should be upgraded. In interviewees' opinion, the upgrading would shorten the waiting times for patients. 15 (37%) interviewees are very familiar with the project eZdravje, and they consider it beneficial for the improvement of the health care system. Conclusion. The upgrading of the health care system is necessary, especially if we want the system to ensure effective care to patients. The process of upgrading strives for patient-centred approach; therefore, it should also strive to lessen the administrative burden on nurses.
