Abstract

Secondary abstract: Poverty is a mix of various deficiencies, the reduction of life chances and long-term shortage, which is a major problem for the individual, the family and the environment. In the theoretical part of the thesis we have described poverty, social exclusion and the impact of poverty on human health. We have identified the basic principles of public health and described health and disease. We have described alcohol dependence, types of addiction, its causes and negative effects of alcohol consumption. In the empirical part we wanted to determine the relationship between poverty and alcoholism - how can bad socio-economic status influences on alcohol consumption and, consequently, the formation of alcohol dependence.
