Abstract

Secondary title: THE ROLE OF THE NURSE IN EDUCATING PATIENTS WITH PERITONEAL DIALYSIS
Secondary abstract: education the patient about his disease and treatment and further introduces him into his new way of living. The nurse must be aware that not all patients learn at the same pace and that everyone does not accept their medical condition the same way, this is why she must treat every patient as an individual. Research methodology: In the making of the diploma thesis for the theoretical part we studied and used national and foreign literature and internet sources. For the empirical part we used the descriptive method of research. We conducted a case study through interviews and reviews of nursing documentation. Results: In the case study, we identified the following eight nursing diagnoses: breathing, ineffective breathing patterns, liquids, danger of unbalanced volume of liquids, sleep, sleep disorder, risk of infection, fear (of complications that can occur in peritoneal dialysis), effective management of therapeutic regulations, heart function, reduced, pain, chronic (the small of the back). Conclusion: Peritoneal dialysis is a treatment that requires the patient's willingness to learn and adhere to the instructions. End-stage kidney failure has an impact on life activities and hence on the quality of life. A well-prepared, educated, confident and self-disciplined patient can live a good life. It is therefore the task of the nurse to win the patient's trust and prepare him for a new way of life.
