magistrsko delo
Abstract

Secondary abstract: |
The master's thesis entitled Primož Suhodolčan's Youth Prose encompasses the whole opus of the author's young adult literary works published until the end of 2014. The choice of this author was not a coincidence, since he has long been considered as the most important Slovenian writer of young adult literature, and more recently he has become the most widely read Slovenian writer. In recent years, his youth prose has been borrowed in libraries more often than the works of any other author. In the first part of the study, we summarize the definitions and characteristics of short prose (humorous sketch, fairy tale, fantastic story) as established by Slovenian and foreign theorists, and categorize all short prose works by Primož Suhodolčan in this framework. The series of picture books about the character Peter Nos consists of short prose texts that belong to irrational prose and are based on situational or verbal comedy. In part, they can be perceived as aphorisms. We also deal with two picture books about the character Lipek; these are fantasy short stories. The boy Rok goes to a playground, where he consciously enters into the world of trees and plays basketball with them. The stories are based on probabilistic or realistic motivation and stress the importance of friendship, of the coexistence with nature and of sport. The series Živalske novice also falls under fantasy short prose; these are specially crafted works that represent the authors' journalistic style of writing and communication. By the analysis and synthesis of the series Pozor, pravljice! it was established that this is a combination of fairy tales which foreground the child main character, a toy / object that comes to life, a personified animal, plant or celestial body / phenomenon. In this series there are also fairy tales with a main character who is known from the folk fairy tale tradition. Longer realistic prose is presented in the trilogy about Ranta, which represents sports adventure prose for which the writer Primož Suhodolčan has received several awards. The tale Maks pa Sanja is a children's detective story in which Maks and Sanja play an important role, and it is written as a diary entry. In the last part of the study there is a section dealing specifically with humour, which is the author%s hallmark, since in his youth prose situational, verbal and character comedy are intertwined. |
