Abstract

Secondary title: DESIGNING A MOBILE APPLICATION FOR SUPPORTING POLICEMAN FIELD-WORK
Secondary abstract: The diploma thesis presents pilot project »ePolicist«. The thesis is mainly focused on planning and testing mobile application »ePolicist« in order to provide support for policeman in the field. Main guideline for planning the mobile application of »ePolicist« was to reduce the paper workload of police officers by the means of using new mobile technology. Since work of a police officer is connected with traffic violation and general public safety on the field, the main principle was to enable a police officer to issue a fine ticket directly on sight. Further development of e-Business and m-Business will enable police officers also to check data needed for their field work through mobile devices. Piloted mobile application has demonstrated, that the procedure of issuing fine tickets using mobile device is quicker and more efficient. As soon as the policeman enters data into mobile application, the data is transferred to mobile printer and send to central police database. There are no more delays in processing fine tickets, since police officer transfers data from field to central database automatically with presented mobile application.
