Abstract

Secondary title: NON-MATERIAL REWARDING AND MOTIVATION OF EMPLOYEES IN THE POLICE HEAD OFFICE KOPER
Secondary abstract: The Public Finance Balance Act has introduced several austerity measures into the Police Force Organization, including strict restrictions for material rewarding of police officers. In recent years, the police force has been facing increasingly sophisticated and complex forms of criminal activity and extraordinary events of international dimensions, such as the migrant crisis. At the same time, the number of employees in the police force has decreased due to austerity measures, leading to an increasing work burden on police officers. In such circumstances, it is a huge challenge for the superiors to motivate the employees in the police force to perform at work in an efficient and successful manner. Non-material rewarding is a method for increasing employee satisfaction or at least diminishing discontent and for motivating employees despite the lack of financial means. With the help of a survey performed among the employees at the Koper Police Directorate, we measured their level of work satisfaction and the importance of different motivating factors. We would like to give our suggestions for non-material rewarding at the Koper Police Directorate on the basis of the survey results and our findings.
