Abstract

Secondary title: DEVELOPMENT OF A COMMUNICATION GATEWAY USING MODERN PROTOCOLS FOR SYSTEMS SCADA
Secondary abstract: This Master's Thesis describes the design and development of the software for the PLC expansion module, which serves as a communication gateway between a PLC unit and the remote control system. The expansion module is designed for control and monitoring of geographically distributed processes, such as eg. applications in the energy industry. The expansion module is developed in the Linux environment and uses IEC60870-5 and DNP3 communication protocols, which are specially developed for communication with distributed processes. The Master’s Thesis presents the theoretical basics of remote control systems, associated communications technologies and the basics of the Linux operating system, which are necessary for understanding the operation of the expansion module. After setting the theoretical foundations the functionality, use and basic design of the software architecture is presented of the expansion module.
