ali so individualne značilnosti pri tem pomembne?

Abstract

Karierna negotovost predstavlja stresor le zaposlenim z zunanjim lokusom kontrole, medtem ko nestandardni delovni urnik in odsotnost delovnih resursov ne prispevata k duševnim simptomom stresa.

Secondary abstract: Due to social changes, such as globalization of the economy and recession, organizations are facing increasing demands for competitiveness. They often respond by cutting costs with layoffs and putting pressure on the remaining employees. Initially this may boost the productivity of the staff. However, relentless pressure gradually leads to negative consequences for both the employees and the organization. In the future we can only expect further expansion of economic globalization, which means that the pressure for increased productivity will not stop. Researchers in this field see a solution in recognizing the need for stress prevention and management in the workplace. The purpose of this study is to investigate the link between new ways of working and mental stress, and check whether selected individual characteristics impact those relationships. The sample of 178 employees in the Slovenian Police showed that the workload as well as bullying in the workplace contribute significantly to mental stress symptoms. However, psychologically resilient and emotionally stable employees are more effective at coping with the workload. Career insecurity is a stressor only to employees with an external locus of control whereas nonstandard work schedule and a lack of job resources do not contribute to mental stress symptoms.
