Abstract

Secondary title: MEDIA BETWEEN THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND RIGHT OF PRIVACY
Secondary abstract: Public interest and the right to privacy represent important factors in the cases of reporting, as the question, which factor predominates in which cases, frequently arises. The definition of public interest varies around the world, as the definition itself depends on a certain society and country. It is subject to the benefit of the public, which is sometimes exploited by the media and which could lead to violation or abuse of an individual's right to privacy, with common risks of breaches of privacy. The right to privacy is defined as a basic human right and as an essential part of human dignity, which also enables a certain privacy to public figures. In the media, the right to privacy is in conflict with the right to information and the right to freedom of expression, as receiving information and expressing oneself represent fundamental parts of a democratic society.
