magistrsko delo
Abstract
V magistrskem delu smo predstavili oskrbovalno verigo in zunanje izvajanje dejavnosti oziroma outsourcing. Dobili smo vpogled, kakšne so značilnosti, prednosti in slabosti zunanjega izvajanja dejavnosti v Sloveniji in tujini.

The response of a logistics company to the challenge of 4PL |
Secondary abstract: |
The following thesis focuses on the supply chain and outsourcing. It describes the characteristics of different logistics providers and offers detailed descriptions of the third party logistics (3PL) and fourth party logistics (4PL). In addition, different logistics providers (from 2PL to 6PL) are presented and compared with each other. We found that the difference between logistics providers lies in the complexity of the implementation of activities – 2PLs perform traditional logistics activities, while 6PLs are based on information technology, on highly efficient systems. We gained insight into the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing activities in Slovenia and abroad. We also found that there is a high interest in outsourcing at the Slovenian market as companies see it as an advantage. They usually outsource ancillary activities. Outsourcing abroad is on the rise – the 4PL-concept is settled and some providers even use the 5PL-concept. 4PL business is more expensive, which is one of the reasons it is suitable for larger, global companies which carry out more complex services. In our study we focused on the Slovenian market. The research included different logistics companies and was based on a questionnaire consisting of questions about 4PL in Slovenia. We came to the conclusion that most of the logistics companies operate as a logistics service provider and that the Slovenian market is dominated by 2PL and 3PL providers. Hardly any company intends to implement exclusively 4PL and abandon 3PL completely. We interviewed a company, which is a 3PL provider, to gain more detailed insight into the process of outsourcing. We learned that the company Intereuropa d. d., as a provider of different logistics services, primarily acts as a 3PL. However, with certain parties it acts as a 4PL, which is why their response to the 4PL is positive, and they also intend to operate as a combination of 3PL and 4PL in the future. |
