diplomsko delo
Abstract

Eastern Africa after 1918 |
Secondary abstract: |
Africa, also called the "Black Continent", is a widely mentioned continent. Today, it is associated with numerous imaginations. Even the word "Africa" itself causes various reactions from different people, as every individual sees the continent in his or her own way. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the African continent, specifically the eastern part, from the year 1918 onwards. However, it is also necessary to look back at the events that happened prior to this period, like how it evolved, what people inhabited the area, how colonization took place, what was the BC period like and finally, the most important events leading up to 1918. Most importantly, the colonization period during the 19th century was a very interesting and turbulent one, as many European superpowers fought for presitge and therefore automatically for more territory and wealth. The thesis also touches on the darkest history of Africa, namely slavery, which resulted in the deaths of numerous innocent victims. The shocking fact is that slavery, which was widespread during that time, is still not resolved even today, because it has taken a new form in terms of modern slavery. During the 20th century, Africa took part in the First and Second World War. Every country in the eastern part had its own history during this period and all of them fought for their independence and rights. Numerous people lost their lives in the struggle and desire for independence. |
