Abstract

Secondary title: Geometric morphometric of skull of the Zokor, Myospalax (Rodentia: Mammalia)
Secondary abstract: Theme of thesis was morphometric analysis of dorsal side of the skull in three species of zokors, Myospalax: M. myospalax, M. aspalax and M. psilurus. Analysis consisted of 246 skulls of three types zokors divided into seven samples (OTU). The analysis was performed by using the methods of geometric morphometry, which allows a separate analysis of the variability in shape and size of organisms and their structures, in our case it was the dorsal side of the skull. Variability of dorsal side of the skull was analyzed according to secondary sexual dimorphism, geographical origin and interspecies differences. We found that secondary sexual dimorphism in size of the skull in adults zokors is not statistically significant. Secondary sexual dimorphism in skull shape between the sexes is recognizable but we although decided to deal with sex in a single analysis. Analysis for age variability was performed only for the type M. psilurus, which shows a statistically significant distinction between age groups. The results of age variability, we generalize to all samples. With discriminant analysis and principal component analysis we verified the variability in the form of a dorsal side of the skull. We have confirmed the hypothesis that the three different types of zokors are present differences in size and shape of the skull, also are present differences within different geographic patterns. Minimum skull shows the species of M. aspalax and the highest shows the species of M. myospalax.
